Most of us have had a weight issue in our lives, some more often than others. After a lifetime of seemingly losing the weight loss battle, many of us begin to lose hope on dieting and exercise. Waiting until Monday to start dieting becomes a way of life. Starting that exercise program next week always sounds like a great plan until next week comes along. There is good news though. Anyone has the ability to lose weight. We simply must instill in ourselves the truth that this will be a life time process, not a quick fix. Temporary weight loss becomes a losing battle every time, because we continue to internally see ourselves as overweight.

How many times have you been on a diet and been disappointed with how much you lost? The fact is that most of us are self deluded when it comes to sticking with a diet. We think we're doing all we can, when often, we're cheating here and there. The diet is the test, and if the diet doesn't work... we have failed, not the diet! We have to get honest with ourselves. Any diet will work, if we discipline ourselves to strict compliance. That doesn't have to seem like a bad thing. When you're complying with a diet, you KNOW it's working! That is a good thing! Every day you can be confident in the fact that you're losing weight.

The internal image you hold of yourself creates the outer image people see. All the diets in the world will seem to fail if you continue to view yourself internally as overweight and unable to stick with a diet. This is where our mental imagery comes into play. Until we change our mental images and thoughts we cannot hope to change ourselves.

Take a picture of your scales while holding it at your perfect weight. Print it out... make a screen saver of it.. or desktop wallpaper... Create a mental image of yourself stepping onto those scales and seeing that number appear... imagine looking past your flat stomach as you stand on those scales. Repeat this consistently until it becomes THE mental image of yourself. While you're creating this mental image get to work on your diet too. See yourself sticking with it and do the best you can. As you take these steps persistently, you will find your weight falling off for good!
